Statistical Proxy
A Proxy variable, in statistics, is a value of minor direct value but from which a value of interest can be inferred or acquired. The statistical proxy value must have a reasonable correlation with the inferred value wanted.
For example, an individual's country of origin could have a reasonable correlation and, therefore, be used as a proxy for that individual's race.
